The Two Youths
The Two Youths
The Two Youths was formed in 2016 by JOPLMBO.
Stitching together delicate vocal samples, syncopated drum machinery, and vibrating bass synths with several meters of cable, The Two Youths reach out to the careers of David Bowie, Laurie Anderson, and Radiohead to orient their sound.
Weeping falsettos and tense baritones adorn the band's set, while ambiguous guitar tones dialogue with kneading synth bass sequences. Connectivity of linguistics, cult governance, and behaviorism form the band's lyrical content.
The Two Youths quickly find their footing in the North Carolina music scene and plans to release tracks in accessible yet unconventional formats. The Two Youths are currently touring and recording.
Light Beams
Light Beams
Light Beams began in 2015 when Justin Moyer (Puff Pieces) – influenced by 80s-era freestyle music and Sheila E. – started playing sampler and timbales with Sam Lavine, the longtime drummer of D.C. hip-hop mainstays the Cornel West Theory. With the addition of bassist Arthur Noll the resulting polyrhythmic melange, sometimes called “zap-tone” or “block rock,” reinvents late-20th century dance-pop using the tools of the 21st.
Manners Manners
Manners Manners
Manners Manners is a queer noise pop band from Baltimore, MD.
Silent Piece
Silent Piece
Silent Piece is a solo project of Kenny Wheeler, developed layer by layer in NC. Looping sound and collecting nostalgic audio samples as a means to play by his lonesome, Silent Piece sprawls between celestial and grotesque- creating an ultra lush landscape of songs leaving listeners attune to the vivid story inside everything. Wheeler is deeply influenced by the stirring and melodic: Debussy, Godspeed, Mono, Debussy, and Messiaen.
