JSWISS
Julian Caldwell a.k.a. JSWISS is a breath of fresh air to the hip hop world. Fans of hip hop’s “Golden Age” in the 90s and artists like Talib Kweli, The Roots and A Tribe Called Quest will love what this lyricist has to offer, as will anyone who appreciates quality content from the heart. With clever wordplay, positive messages and an infectious energy that drives an exciting live show, JSWISS, who Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival producer Brooklyn Bodega calls “a great representative of the future of the culture,” appeals to hip hop purists and new hip hop audiences alike.

Growing up in the New York City suburbs of Dobbs Ferry, NY and earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism from UNC-Chapel Hill, gives JSWISS a different perspective from most rappers. Mix that with a strong love for hip hop culture and understanding of its history, and you’ve got a once-in-a-lifetime artist. Since releasing his first mixtape in 2009, while a student at UNC, Swiss has gained fans worldwide and received acclaim from music authorities such as 2DopeBoyz, The Source, Complex Magazine, Hip Hop DX, RESPECT Magazine, Bleu Magazine & much more.

JSWISS has shared the stage with the likes of Rakim, The Roots, Big K.R.I.T., 2 Chainz and Asher Roth, performed at the legendary Apollo Theatre in Harlem, the famed Preservation Hall in New Orleans, and SOBs in Manhattan, and worked with the likes of Kooley High, Brown Bag AllStars and soul singers Maya Azucena and Karen Bernod.

Most recently JSWISS followed up his well-received 2013 LP, titled Awthenticity, with his ALLCAPSNOSPACES EP, released via Soulspazm Records in January 2015. It’s a body of work which HotNewHipHop.com called “one of early 2015’s most promising new projects.” In addition to be featured on major hip hop media outlets, the project’s lead single “Move” is featured in the street workout documentary Raise Up: The World Is Our Gym and has been in regular rotation at the Nike Pro City summer basketball tournament.

JSWISS also puts his experience as an artist, journalism degree, and prominence within the hip hop community to work as host of the weekly radio show Respect Due on Out Da Box Radio. From one artist to another, JSWISS sits down with rappers, producers and other musicians for unique conversations that can only be had when two artists collide.

Thomas was born on Fort Belvoir, and grew up in nearby Dale City VA. After spending many summers in NC, he eventually moved to Richlands, North Carolina with his family in 1991 when he was in his early teens.[1][2] He studied at the University of North Carolina, initially majoring in criminal justice, but switching to English, and then radio, television and motion pictures.[1] Kaze's first claim to fame was as founder of the Hip-Hop Nation on-campus organization, aimed at promoting local MCs, DJs, poets, and graffiti artists.[2] He followed this with the nationally syndicated television show Hip-Hop Nation in 2001, which he co-created and produced.[1] He then started his own Soul Dojo record label, the first release on which was his 2003 debut album, Spirit of '94.[1] The album was picked up by BCD Global Distribution later that year. He followed this with the Enemy of the State mixtape, featuring contributions from DJ Forge, L.E.G.A.C.Y., 9th Wonder and Nature,[3] and a single "Move Over with Nature", featuring production from fellow North Carolina resident 9th Wonder. 9th Wonder remixed the beats from Kaze's debut, and it was re-issued as Spirit of '94 Version 9.0, with re-recorded vocals, released by Brick Records in the United States and Handcuts Records in Japan.[4] Combined sales of Spirit of '94 and Enemy of the State totalled over 10,000 copies.[5] In 2006, he signed to Rawkus Records, with his second album proper, Block 2the Basement released in 2008. He performed as part of the SXSW festival in 2007.[6] In February 2009, he went on to become co-winner of the LOUD.COM Ultimate Rap Star contest, earning him a record deal with hip-hop business legend Steve Rifkind's SRC Records, distributed by Universal Motown. He joined forces with G-Unit/Shady's DJ Whoo Kid to release the "First in Flight" mixtape in September 2009.

Mario "SkyBlew" Farrow grew up in Alabama. Most of his neighborhoods were polluted with drugs, gangs, and violence. Surrounded by negativity and transitioning into various foster homes, he could have easily chosen the wrong path. Rather than succumbing to his environment and dire circumstances, Mario chose to rise above them and use music to soothe his soul and escape. He would freestyle and rhyme to himself, eventually penning his lyrics under the name, "Young Millionaire," in 2004.

In 2008 Mario relocated and acclimated to Chapel Hill, NC. During this transitional period, he delved deeply into his craft, linking up with local emcees and producers like ACee, Shoton, and KdotMills. Taking his lyricism to the next level, Mario decided to change his handle to "SkyBlew." His music is proving to be unique with an uplifting, powerful, and positive message in Hip-Hop. Well$
Well$
People have been preaching the death of hip-hop for quiet some times. However, there have been a handful of young emcees that would beg to differ.
Well$, the rapper, from Charlotte North Carolina belong to this class of rhyme spitters who want to revitalize the hip-hop scene.
Although Well$ has been rapping since the age of 9, the 17 year old rapper has just recently started his career as a recording artist, but his talent is undeniable. He recently released the song An Awfully Rude Introduction of his upcoming EP entitled $ay La V. He later leaked City of Dreams, a song also set to be a part of his debut EP.
Influenced by the post-Kanye approach to rap, Well$ music is a hybrid of personal narratives, braggadocios, and social concerns. Thus in Well$ you’ll find that self-contradictory message that is common to all of humanity.
Be that as it may, Well$ is a promising young artist who’s music will be hard to ignore. In his own words, “I just want to make music that everybody can like and feel” He accomplishes it quiet beautifully.
Well$ is currently putting the final touches of his forthcoming mixtape “MTSYD: The Revenge Of The African Booty Scratcher” due out in early 2014
