Shiloh Hill
Shiloh Hill
In an age of music where folk and “indie” is taking the world by storm it is not often that you find a band that not only understands their roots but also understands how to create a sound that’s continuously evolving and fully unique. Many artists have the ability of portraying exactly what’s expected from a genre but few recognize the importance and have the knowledge to be more and create a sound that moves outside of that prototypical genre. This is where Shiloh Hill comes in.

A project that focuses on a joint contribution of artists showcasing not only excellent songwriting and lyricism, but a simple yet effective ensemble of harmonizing vocals, guitars, banjo, and percussion. With just the right mix of folk, pop, and fireside feeling, each song has way of pulling you in and eventually taking you away. At certain moments you might find yourself with a desire to compare but that comes from what’s only seen on the surface. By the end of your first experience with Shiloh Hill, only visions of their music will be dancing in your head.
The Affectionates
The Affectionates
The Affectionates emerged from the gritty Durham, NC house party scene as a new original indie rock band early in 2014, The Affectionates sound is a kaleidoscope of of lo-fi, guitar pop, electronica, and folk. Buoying a line between Townes Van Zandt-esque lyrical weight and The Pixies exuberance, the band describes their music as a big loud fun wall of articulate sounds and discrete melodies. In May 2016, The Affectionates along with their recently-signed-to label 10 Foot Woody Records released a five song EP titled What To Build, Who To Destroy...the first of two with a full length planed for Spring 2017 release.
Smoke From All The Friction
Smoke From All The Friction
Smoke From All The Friction, based in Raleigh, NC is the newest creation from seasoned local performers Cam Gillette and Ina Carino. It blends traditional and underground cultures to create a fusion of dark pop, rock, and indie electronic that grabs listeners with both a sense of familiarity and a striking curiosity. Inspired by the ideas of tension and friction, they seek to explore what happens when we venture outside ourselves, past the abstract social constructs that create barriers between us. Instead of simply creating a musical performance for mere entertainment, they inspire a deeper, thought-provoking appreciation between the audience and the music itself.

Their hit single, “Cross & Tattoo," is an exploration of the intense connection that can be achieved when two strangers choose to break down the barriers between them and embrace their honest, vulnerable selves despite the conflicts that may arise. C&T plus several other singles regularly air on select local radio stations.

With almost two decades of classical training and a degree from the ECU School of Music, Ina is a multi-talented artist with dozens of performances to her name already. Cam, formerly in Ambits and fresh off the 2017 national tour with indie rock group Rookie of the Year, brings to the group an expertise not only in songwriting and rich vocals, but through keyboard, bass, and guitar - a varied combination often unseen in a single performer. The two very different styles elegantly mesh together to create a beautiful aural artwork, delicately painting a complex harmony in each note and showcasing how two conflicting forces, when embraced, can birth a creation - a truly unique piece of art - unattainable by the two sources on their own. This cutting-edge duo, drawing influence from top artists like Bjork, 30 Seconds to Mars, and Massive Attack, offers captivating vocals and a unique variety of musical styles that will leave you always wanting more. For those thirsting for the latest sounds in music, the merging of these two artists’ talents in all their glory will not disappoint.
